70 years strong
Founded in 1952 by the late Charlie and Eily McCarthy, who started off by selling insurance from the front room of their home in Fitzgerald Place, Fermoy, County Cork. From a modest two-person beginning, McCarthy Insurance Group has successfully grown and developed into one of Ireland’s largest impartial insurance brokers.

Charlie and his son Charles built and opened the first office across the street from the family home in Fitzgerald Place.
2nd McCarthy Insurance Group branch opens in Lismore. Co. Waterford.
3rd branch opens in South Mall, Cork City.
1st Kerry branch opens.
Dublin Office branch opened in Sandyford.
Following acquisitions, MIG operates 8 branch offices.
9th branch opens in Dunmanway and 3rd in West Cork.
MIG opens its 3rd Kerry branch.
Following further acquisitions, MIG’s 11th branch opens in Charleville, Co. Cork.
12th branch opens in Millstreet, Co. Cork.
13th branch opens in Kinsale, Co. Cork.
MIG is now the biggest insurance broker in Kerry and opens its first Limerick branch.
